Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Reaction: "Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire" (4x04)

Spoilers! Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. contains PG-13 level content.

Things are heating up on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (pun totally intended), and in this episode, we get more AIDA, more mysterious artifacts, and more deals with the devil. Plus! We get to see a familiar face from season 3 (unfortunately, it's not Brett Dalton). What went down this past Tuesday in the Marvel universe? Let's find out!

My Favorite Moments

★ The pacing. This episode hooked me from the very beginning (because, like Simmons, I am also a sucker for breakfast nooks), and it didn't let me go.

★ Fitz and Simmons are moving in together! And they're happy! And they haven't broken up yet!

★ The dynamic between Daisy and Simmons was absolutely perfect. I've missed them, I've missed their friendship, and I've missed them cracking names and taking skulls (to borrow Foggy Nelson's words).

★ I loved how our team is kind of back. It warmed my heart to see Daisy reunited with her team members and agree to help. I almost cried, not going to lie.

★ ROBBIE. (He's probably going to be a permanent fixture under "my favorite moments," just to warn you.)

^^ This moment, guys. Perfection.

★ Robbie Reyes and Daisy Johnson don't know who Nick Fury is. Pass it on.

★ That was the vintage car chase I never knew I needed. It was fantastic.

★ I liked that James came back. At least, I liked it until he was a jerk, but whatever.

★ This book of sins is apparently called the Darkhold, and it apparently relates back to a ton of comic plot lines, including Doctor Strange. This book is seriously bad and truly evil. It's a lot darker than AOS has dared to go before, but I'm oddly looking forward to it.

★ This season is taking a lot of weird things--ghosts, artificial intelligence, terrorist agencies, Inhumans, the devil, and now a book of sins, apparently--and somehow, it WORKS. This episode especially involved all of these things and managed to pull it off in an amazing way. I'm really excited for this season. Like, really excited.

My Least Favorite Moments

★ Um... nothing? Guys, this is a first.

★ If you press me, I'll just say I hate that Daisy got hurt, and I hope Simmons is able to get the blood stains out of her apartment.

Favorite Quotes

"Well, in order to cure the hyperactivity in your reticular activating system, we had to... very carefully... gently... kill you. Just a little bit." - Dr. Radcliffe.
May: "Dying takes a lot out of you."
Coulson: "I've heard. We should make a club, get some t-shirts made up."

Overall

AOS just keeps slaying, knocking one episode after another out of the park. This latest episode was no exception, and I'm just pumped for what AOS will do next--because they're doing amazing things here. You might even say... they're on fire.
