This was a pretty hefty episode guys. Shall we get started?
We start with a flashback of young Jane reading her first romance novel, but upon finding all the sex scenes marked out with black sharpie becomes frustrated. Fast forward to present Jane, who is frustrated with sex again. While making out with Michael, she decides she wants to have sex
. But Michael convinces her not to because he still wants to marry her. In the meantime, they are enjoying their time together, and Rafael is...not.
After a rather intense meeting with Rafael where he picks up Mateo, Jane wonders what it would have been like if she never broke up with Michael. She goes home and talks to Xo about it and also receives a text from Rogelio saying he's having fun. But he's not the one who's been sending the texts. Paola, holding Rogelio hostage, is keeping up with his social media accounts while spending time with him in his apartment.
Michael is working on the Mutter case now, and apparently they're following leads on Derek, Rafael's half brother. (This show really is getting crazy.) Apparently after Mutter resurfaced, Derek went missing, only seen with a girlfriend named Avery. Michael asks Rafael if he would be willing to help them find Derek, but he's not. Michael returns home, angry with him, but it all fades when he sees Jane has set up a dinner for them because that night was supposed to be their first wedding anniversary. Michael also remembered and got Jane the new Angelique Harper book. Jane is excited but upon reading the premise discovers Angelique stole her idea.
Jane and Michael go to look up the legalities of plagiarism, but when pulling up her laptop, Jane finds Abuela's chats with that Pablo guy. She ignores it and stays up studying the book looking for similarities. The next morning, Petra finds a girl leaving Rafael's apartment. He says he's just going through a hard time, and Petra tells it to him straight. She is about to give birth, he is about to a father, and he needs to step it up and act like an adult.
Later, Michael asks Jane if she had emailed the chapter to anyone before Angelique stole her idea. She apparently sent it to Rafael, but upon looking at all of Jane and Rafael's old emails, Michael becomes bothered. Jane again wishes she never broke up with Michael. Later that evening, she calls Angelique's publishing company posing as Angelique's assistant but is interrupted when Xo finds the email between Abuela and Pablo. Xo is furious to find out Abuela had sex before she was married because she'd been acting like such a hypocrite and confronts Abuela about it, but then storms off.
Jane goes to check on Xo, and to get their minds off the situation, they look at Rogelio's tweets. Meanwhile, Rogelio is still trapped with the stalker. He manipulates Paola to let him text something to Jane and tries to send a code to Xo that he's kidnapped, but they don't get the hint. Later, the workers at the hotel are gossiping about Rafael being drunk, and Petra overhears. Panicking, Petra calls Jane, but Jane really doesn't want to think about Rafael. But then Michael reveals that Rafael is helping them with the police investigation and that's why he was there. Jane and Michael get to talking about Rafael, and Michael reveals he's still hurt about the entire situation.
In order to fix it, Jane wants to recreate the night she broke up with Michael and make it better. Petra interrupts and wants Jane to bring her to her birthing class. Jane agrees, but once they're in the car Petra reveals she's really there so they can confront Rafael. Meanwhile, Paola plans to make love to Rogelio in the light of the full moon.
Jane eventually tells Petra that Rafael was acting weird because of the police investigation, and so Petra cools down. As they're driving back, Angelique comes on the radio. Jane explains that Angelique stole her idea, and Petra thinks they should go confront her at her book signing. Meanwhile, Rafael has gotten in touch with Avery, Derek's old girlfriend. But, upon discovering Rafael is linked with Derek, Avery storms off.
Back at the signing, Jane is ready to confront Angelique, but just as they're about to get to her, Petra's water breaks. They rush to the hospital but soon discover Petra won't be able to get any epidural because of some medical thing to do with blood (she really is having a sucky pregnancy). Also, Rafael is stuck in traffic. Without him there, Jane helps Petra with the birthing. And while all this drama is going on, Abuela goes to Xo and apologizes for everything. Xo forgives her, and they have some girl talk over Pablo for a while.
In order to keep Petra distracted, Jane reads her writing. Meanwhile, Rogelio succeeded in slipping a sleeping pill of Paola's in her drink, and so before they make love, she passes out. Back to Jane and Petra, it's time to push, but Rafael is still in traffic. Jane urges Petra to pus, and...Voila! Babies!
Later, as they wait on Rafael, Petra thanks Jane for being there to help her and tells her the names of the babies: Elsa and Anna.
But legit, I can't even.
When Rafael arrives, Jane leaves and finds Michael outside. They finally talk about their problems, and with things solved, Michael proposes again. Jane says yes again. Everything is great again. But I'm not great again.
Except it's not. Xo invited Pablo over, but Abuela freaks out because apparently he's bad luck. Also, Derek the half brother checked into the hotel. And Rogelio didn't successfully escape, and Paola smacked him over the head with a trophy.
