Classic & Cozy: Five Winter-Worthy Page-to-Screen Pairings

The holidays are over, but there are still wintry days ahead! Snowy and gray days are perfect for snuggling up with a blanket and a favorite book or movie. Or both!

Here are a few page-to-screen pairings that are perfect for passing the winter days:
The Chronicles of Narnia:
The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Most notable on this list for its wintry atmosphere is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, making it a perfect choice for an adventure on a snowy day. Read the classic book by C.S. Lewis and then watch the stunning 2005 movie starring Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie.
Pride and Prejudice

A well-known classic with many adaptations to choose from, Pride and Prejudice is full of humor and romance. Cuddle up with Jane Austen’s novel and then check out one of the many adaptations—like the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley as Lizzy and Matthew Macfadyen as Darcy.
 Sense and Sensibility

Another Jane Austen favorite, featuring a bit of heartbreak and romance. Grab a copy of the book and the swoon-worthy 1995 film starring Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood.
Emma

Featuring plenty of humor and Austen’s signature wit, it’s a perfect choice for a gray winter day. Get lost in the novel for a little while, then binge-watch the 2009 miniseries featuring Romola Garai as the titular character.
North and South

Maybe you’re not looking for a Jane Austen read but still want a romantic classic to cuddle up with. Follow the clash between Margaret Hale and John Thornton through the novel, then check out the 2004 miniseries with Daniela Denby-Ashe and Richard Armitage as the lead characters.

What are your favorite page-to-screen pairings?

  1. I watched Emma and I loved Jonny Lee Miller as Mr. Knightly. He is just adorable as a person. :)
